Intelligent Design, an argument from incredulity

The 21st floor has a useful blog article, which reiterates many of the arguments against Intelligent Design creationism that have been made here and elsewhere (Bad Argument of the Week XXXIV – A FakeID Special).

It’s always been pretty clear from a number of perspectives that ID = Creationism.  It’s also obvious to those who review the claims from the likes of Alastair Noble that there is a distinction between ID and creationism and that ID really is a scientific approach to looking at and explaining the complexity of living organisms, that the principle objection to true scientific explanations which involve evolutionary biology (and no recourse to a creator/designer) is merely founded on incredulity.

The fact that the whole ID/creationist house of cards depends upon arguments from incredulity reveals the intellectual vacuum at the heart of the ID enterprise.
