Club TT Entry Fee Increase

Eagle-eyed members will have noted that there has been a substantial increase in entry fees for club time trials this season.  The Club had decided to hold entry fees at the 2011 level (£1.50 for member and £2.00 for non-members).  Unfortunately, the CTT decided to charge a uniform £2.00 levy per rider for both club and open events from the 2012 season.  This has meant we have been forced to increase our entry fees to £2.50 (members) and £3.00 (non-members).

Marshalling assistance required 3/6/12

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR NBRC MEMBERS

Ian Stokes is organising an open '25' on a new course based on the A5 and the Stoke Hammond bypass on 3rd June. He urgently needs to hear from members who can help out by marshalling or with other duties on the day. Please contact Ian directly if you can help. (Note that the event is designated as the club championship '25')

Stoke Hammond '10' 23rd May 2012 (NBRC Championship '10')

This event is the North Bucks Club Championship '10', held on the Stoke Hammond course, F5d/10 A4146. The starting time is slightly later, at 7.15pm. We'll meet for signing on near the start as usual (in the lane by the garage at the roundabout).

Entry fee: £2.50 (members) £3.00 (non-members)

Stony '11.4' 16th May 2012 - League Round 4

We're back to the sporting course based at Stony Stratford (F5u/10). Notionally a '10', the NBRC version of the course is a bit closer to 11.4 miles. Hopefully the weather will improve: recent events have been badly affected by rain.  This event is the fourth counting event in the 2012 time trial series.

Start time is 1900, and the event is limited to 40 riders. See the course description for the meeting point and risk assessment.

On a warmer evening than most we've had lately we had a good turnout of 20 solo riders and even one 2-up team. The event was won by Jason Gurney with an excellent 25:15

At the Tweed Run, hobnobbing with the stars

Alan 'Tintin' Lawson sent out this picture of him with a more famous fellow rider at the 2012 Tweed Run. Seems to have a nasal problem.

Astwood '10' 9th May 2012

Back to the Astwood sporting course once more this evening. Course details and risk assessment: F5v/10 Astwood.

The event starts 7.00pm, with a limit of 40 riders.

Entry £2.50 (members), £3.00 (non-members).

After a day of heavy showers, this event saw no actual rain, though there was a stiff old breeze that made bikes with deep rim front wheels rather twitchy at times. Twelve riders braved the elements. Many thanks to Tony Farmborough (time keeping) and Bryan Scarborough (pusher off), who both brave the elements which were less than ideal for spending an hour or so on a roadside.

North Bucks Road Club Diamond Jubilee!

June 2012 celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of the North Bucks Road Club marking 60 years of dedication to cycling in the local area.

We therefore share our Diamond Jubilee celebrations with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and with other milestone events such as the introduction of commercial passenger jet flights with the De Havilland Comet.

As an acknowledgement of the importance of this anniversary of the Club, it is heartening to think that our country and its government have chosen to commemorate this milestone by hosting the Olympic Games in London.

Our contribution to the celebrations will be to hold a barbeque on 16 June at The Pavilion, Rushmere Close, Bow Brickhill from 4pm until 8pm. The event is being held on a playing field and is intended for the whole family. Children are encouraged to attend.

The barbeque will be catered professionally and we will be posting full details of menu choices, ticket prices etc on the website in due course. We are hoping to arrange events for all the family and to incorporate a social ride on the day ending at Bow Brickhill.

The significance of the event being held in Bow Brickhill is that the club was originally formed in the Wheatsheaf Public House in June 1952. The pub will, of course, be open on 16 June should members and guests choose to mark the occasion with a small libation!

This is a milestone event in the history of the Club and we hope for a good turnout, so please mark the date in your diaries now!

Tom Simpson Memorial, Mont Ventoux

Chris Juden emailed to say he's made use of three club members in a photo shoot at the Tom Simpson memorial on Mont Ventoux.  He's happy to supply the full 12 megapixel image...in lieu of modelling fees!
